This camp is specially designed for kids who attended Camp Splash 1 last year or have completed the fourth grade. This follow-up camp will focus primarily on water issues and how they impact people in the west. Camp Splash II will concentrate less on the biological elements of water and more on the social impacts and problems facing water as a resource. Students can expect to learn about the first explorers of the Colorado River, the different dam projects throughout history, and the issues facing our community concerning water. We will also learn new ways to conserve water in our own lives. Before our rafting adventure, students will learn rafting terms and river etiquette.
This camp includes an overnight rafting trip with Camp Splash I students. Students should complete Camp Splash I before Camp Splash II, unless they have completed 4th grade. We raft a section of the Colorado River near State Bridge, CO with a qualified outfitter. Let us know if you have questions.
